Alternative Vehicles can range from the weird and wonderful to the ones that make you wonder if there really is a viable alternative to the old gas guzzling vehicles that cram the streets (especially when you’re trying to get somewhere in a hurry).
I’m 38 years old, and I’ve never owned my own car, alternative or not. I’ve never needed to, living in the middle of a city. Everyone I talk to, when I start thinking about the alternatives to public transport - which incidentally aren’t that good where I live - tells me “DON’T! They’re too expensive!” So, I started researching other options. I’ve found all kinds of things, from pedal powered 60kph tricycles through to single person gyrocopters and of course the personal transporters that Segway started and Toyota are now following suit.
One thing I didn’t find, was a single place that showed me all the options. So, getting sick of all the printouts of my latest discoveries, I decided to post the alternative vehicles I found online, and save a bit of ink and forest in the process. Yes, I’m more alternative than just vehicles!
PS If you are new to the site, two things to check out - first, click on ‘cool alternative vehicles’ on the right for some fun and out there stuff, and secondly, check out this article post for the background story of where alternative vehicles fit into the bigger picture.

Love the picture of the car above. I have a Hyundai but not that one - it’d be a little impractical - I’d have nowhere to put my shopping!

If you were driving it, though, you’d never have trouble parking at the supermarket - just go straight UNDER all the 4WDs!!!
